Angelfall (Penryn and the End of Days), Susan Ee

angelfall-book-cover-artThe world has come to an end. There is death, destruction, and devastation everywhere. The Angels have descended on to Earth and have been warring with Demons. They have destroyed everything we know and hold dear. Penny and her family are trying to survive in this new world, knowing that at any point they could die. Peryn has a younger sister in a wheelchair, and her mom is crazy and has been battling the demons inside of her. When trying to move location they run into the demon angels battling another angel, which ends with the angel getting his wing cut off, and Penryn doing the unexpected. Penryn decides to help the angel and distracts the demon angels from killing him. By helping out the angel, her sister was kidnapped by the demon angel, which made an already horrible world even worse for Penryn. Penryn now has two choices; keep trying to survive, or go and find her sister.
I really enjoyed reading the first book of this series. It was very similar to Fallen Series by Lauren Kate. I think I might have even enjoyed it more for the sheer fact that there was more action involved in the story. The romance began to simmer during the story, but it wasn’t prominent in the story. I’m going to continue reading this series to see what happens next. Until next time,

The King’s Deception (Cotton Malone #8), Steve Berry

the-kings-deceptionCotton Malone is back to fill in the blanks of what happened while in London with his son. A recent stop in Georgia to go by his ex’s house brings up the question of what happened.  Pam, Malone’s ex, knew something was different when her son was able to forgive her for the sins of the past. It is difficult to learn that the man who raised you is not your biological father, and then when your mother won’t tell you who is, it is hard to understand and to want to trust her. On their way to the Copenhagen, Cotton is asked to do a favor and transport a young boy back to London because he escaped police custody after witnessing a crime in London. When they make it to London, they are ambushed by fake London police. Cotton finds his son, Gary, kidnapped, the boy has run away, and he is temporarily unconscious on the street. Cotton has found himself in the middle of something again, but this time his son is at risk.
I really enjoyed The King’s Deception. I mean there has barely been a Cotton Malone novel that I don’t like. This one though is about Queen Elizabeth and I found that to be pretty interesting. Steve Berry continues to make fictional history enjoyable to read, and now it’s time for me to go on to the next. Until next time,

Adore Me Lingerie!!

I took a chance on one of those Facebook ads, and it really paid off. I found a wonderful place to find lingerie at that has all sizes!! Yes, I mean all sizes for big girls, small girls, all sizes, and the lingerie is beautiful! For us big girls it is hard to find bras that look pretty, and make you feel pretty. Most of the time they are just for structure and support, but these are sexy!! I absolutely loge that they come with a matching panty as well, which makes it well worth the already affordable price.

If you become a VIP member then they send you an email every month asking you to buy or skip. If you do not choose either they will charge you $39.95, but don’t worry it stays in your account to use later. I have actually “forgotten” a couple of months in a row so that I wouldn’t spend the money that I wanted to spend on bras, and was able to get some more pretty things. The VIP status gets you $10 off each and every bra every time as well.

In this purchase I got some basics, black and royal blue, but trust me there is nothing basic about them!
If this is your first time click here. Your first set will be $24.95, and then you will be hooked! There are also tons of BOGO sales to look out for as well, and if you buy 6 sets the next one is on them! Happy shopping! Until next time,

The Hobbit: Movie vs. Book Part 2

the hobbit  the hobbit part 2

Now, there’s a lot of positive things to say about this movie. I absolutely loved the movie! Just like I love everything about LOTR, but I have some issues with it as well. Most of the things that happen in this movie do not actually happen in the book. I personally believe the main reason that they added a lot of it was to make it into a trilogy to make money.

For example there is a lot of time spent in the river town, and not actually on the people on the quest. I understand that there is need for a back story, but how they actually found the door in the book was a little bit different than the way it occurred in the movie. Also a lot of Gandalf’s journey did not happen, but I really liked how they made that back story. Of course I will own the Extended Editions to add to my extended editions LOTR set, and I will watch them numerous times, but I’m just saying I don’t like change! But I understand the reason for it. The Hobbit, J.R.R. Tolkien

the hobbitOh, The Hobbit, the beginning of a journey that would change the way we also look at The Odyssey. The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien is about a young hobbit,Bilbo Baggins, also known as Half-Ling who is thrown into an adventure of a lifetime. Used to being in his hobbit hole and minding his own business, as his relatives have, he is greeted by the Grey Wizard, Gandalf. Gandalf has determined through his own ways that he is the perfect person for the quest that he has planned. In the next couple of days Bilbo is met at the door by a caravan of dwarves ready for their quest. The dwarves are on a magnificent quest to take back their homeland in the mountains from a dragon, Smaug, who was attracted to their kingdom by all of the precious metals and gems. Bilbo has never done anything like this before and is skeptical that he wants to get involved with the likes of dwarves, but he finds himself anyway joining them on this adventure, and in turn opens apart of himself he did not know he had as well.

I figured it was finally time for me to read the novels of the movies that I love so much. It has actually been forever since I read the book because I finished it before the first movie, and have been slacking on the posts. I’m not sure if I loved this book, but I did enjoy it. I have seen it in a play so I knew how it ended, and basically what happens, but the books always provide more detail than in any other way. If you’re a LOTR fan and haven’t read this, then I definitely recommend reading it because it’s always good to know how something starts. Until next time,

The Highs and Lows of Social Media

You would think social media would be a blogger’s best friend! Right?

WRONG!!

My problem with social media is that you have to go through and connect it to everything! Also I’m still self conscious about the whole blogging thing, so attaching it to social media makes everything seem so much more real. With blogging about books it’s difficult to get views. I’m not talking about things that people want to read all the time like fashion, makeup, or traveling. I’m talking about reading, which is a dying thing on its own. Kind of like owning actual paper books. Now that I’ve finally made a Facebook page, after a year or so of contemplating, it’s time to make that better. Check it out here:

Don’t forget twitter:  @90sbornreader

We’ll see if I get the hang of this. I’m trying I promise.
